Deskew PDF straightens pages that were scanned or photographed at a slight angle, so lines of text run level again. It measures each page and only changes the ones that are actually tilted.
Drop the PDF on the page or choose it from Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive. Choose Only tilted pages (the default) or Every page, which redraws all pages to fix even tiny tilts. Press Straighten pages. The result tells you how many pages were straightened. Download the file, or press 'Continue with this file' to run OCR on it.
An office clerk feeds a pile of invoices through a sheet-fed scanner and half come out crooked. A student photographs library pages on a phone. An archivist digitises old typed letters. In each case the pages are readable but look careless, and tilted text is harder for OCR.
Text recognition works best on level lines, so straightening a scan first usually gives cleaner OCR results. If your PDF already has real text, most pages will be straight, and with Only tilted pages any page that doesn't need fixing keeps its text exactly as it is.
