PDF to TIFF saves each page of a PDF as a TIFF image, the format print shops, fax servers and many document archives still ask for. A records clerk might use it to feed pages into an older archive system, and a designer might send a printer TIFF files instead of a PDF.

How to convert PDF to TIFF

Add your PDF from your device, Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive, up to 260 MB. The Image row is at the top of the Convert to list with TIFF selected. Click it and every page becomes a TIFF image. Multi-page files come back as a ZIP with one image per page, ready to download or pass on.

Where PDF to TIFF is used

TIFF is common in printing, scanning and records management because it can store images without lossy compression, and many older document systems were built around it. Some legal and insurance upload portals still accept nothing else.

It is also a sensible format when a page is going to be worked on in image software such as Photoshop or GIMP and you want to avoid JPG artefacts.

Things to know about PDF to TIFF

TIFF files are large, often several megabytes per page. That is normal for the format, but check the upload limit of the system you are sending to before converting a long document.

If the pages are headed for a website, a chat or an email, JPG or PNG from the same format menu will be much lighter. For a scanned PDF you want to keep as a document, OCR PDF is usually more useful than images.

Frequently asked questions

Why convert PDF to TIFF?
Mostly because a printer, archive or records system asks for TIFF. It is widely supported in professional imaging and document software.
Do I get one TIFF per page?
Yes. Each page is its own TIFF file, and they arrive together in a ZIP for multi-page PDFs.
Why are the TIFF files so big?
TIFF usually keeps image data with little or no lossy compression. A page that is 200 KB as a JPG can be a few megabytes as a TIFF.
Can I pick other formats besides PDF to TIFF?
Yes. If the TIFFs are too heavy for where they are going, set the format menu on the Image row to JPG or PNG, or HEIC for Apple devices, and convert again.
Will PDF to TIFF work with a scanned PDF?
Yes. Scanned pages convert to TIFF like any other page, so you get each scanned page as a picture.
Can I convert several PDFs to TIFF?
Yes. A batch of case files is processed one after another, and the results are listed separately so each can be saved or renamed.
