PDF to Excel pulls the tables out of a PDF into an editable Excel sheet (XLSX), so you can sort, filter and total the numbers. A bookkeeper can bring a supplier's PDF price list into a spreadsheet, and a sales manager can turn a PDF report into columns ready for a pivot table.
Add your PDF from your device, Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive, up to 260 MB. Excel (.xlsx) sits at the top of the Convert to list; click it and the file converts. Download the spreadsheet, which keeps your original file name, and open it in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers.
Whenever numbers are stuck in a PDF and you need to work with them: invoice line items to check against a purchase order, a card statement you want to categorise, a table of results from a supplier or a regulator.
Copying a table out of a PDF viewer by hand usually mangles the columns. Converting the file lays the values out in cells, so you spend your time checking figures rather than rebuilding the table.
If the PDF is a scan, the tool labels it Scanned PDF and moves PDF OCR to the top of the list. A scan is only a picture of a table, so run OCR first; otherwise the spreadsheet will hold images instead of numbers.
After converting, check the totals and any merged header cells, as those deserve a second look. For one table in the middle of a long report, PDF to CSV or the Table Extractor may be quicker.
