Word to PDF converts DOC, DOCX, ODT and RTF documents into PDF, keeping the layout you set in Word so the reader sees the same fonts, spacing and page breaks. It is how most CVs, invoices, cover letters and signed-off reports get sent: as a PDF that looks the same on any device and can't be reformatted by accident.

How to convert Word to PDF

Drop your Word file on the page, or choose it from your device, Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive. Each file can be up to 260 MB, and you can add several documents to convert them one after another. PDF appears in the Convert to list with the note Keeps the Word layout. Press it and download each PDF, which takes the name of the original document, so cover-letter.docx becomes cover-letter.pdf. From the result you can rename the file, send it on WhatsApp, or open it in another tool with Continue with this file.

Why send Word documents as PDF

A .docx file depends on the fonts and the version of Word on the other person's computer. Open it on a phone or in a different app and headings can shift, tables can break across pages, and a two-page CV can spill onto three. A PDF fixes the layout in place.

It is also harder to edit casually, which is what you want when sending a quote, a final contract draft or a letter on company letterhead.

Word to PDF for job seekers and small businesses

Job portals and recruiters often ask for a CV in PDF, and some reject .docx outright. A consultant sending a monthly invoice from a Word template can convert it and attach it in under a minute. A student under a 10 MB portal limit can convert the dissertation, then run it through Compress PDF if the images made it too large.

Before and after converting

The PDF is a snapshot of the document, so fix typos and check page breaks in Word first. Accept or remove tracked changes and comments so they don't end up in the final copy. Keep the .docx as your editable master and convert again after any change.

Once you have the PDF, Sign PDF adds a signature, and Merge PDF can join it to other documents, such as a CV and certificates in one file.

Frequently asked questions

Will Word to PDF keep my layout?
That is what it is built for. Fonts, spacing, images, tables and page breaks are carried into the PDF. If the document uses unusual fonts, give the result a quick look before sending.
Do I need Microsoft Word installed to convert Word to PDF?
No. The conversion happens on HuntPDF, so you only need the .docx or .doc file itself, not the Word app.
Which file types does Word to PDF accept?
DOC, DOCX, ODT (from LibreOffice or OpenOffice) and RTF.
Can I convert several Word documents at once?
Yes. Add them together and press PDF. Each is converted in turn, with its own download named after the original.
Can I edit the PDF after converting?
The PDF is meant to be the final version. Make edits in your Word file and convert again. For a small correction, the PDF editor can change text directly.
Why does a font look different in my PDF?
Usually the document uses a font that had to be swapped for a similar one. Switching to a widely available font such as Arial or Calibri before converting avoids it.
How do I make the PDF smaller after converting?
Large photos are the usual cause. Open the result in Compress PDF with Continue with this file, or shrink the images in Word before converting.
