PDF to HTML converts a PDF into an HTML file that opens in any web browser. A council officer might use it to get a PDF notice onto a web page, and a developer might use it to pull the text and structure out of a PDF spec before copying parts into documentation.
Add your PDF from your device, Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive, up to 260 MB. HTML (.html) sits at the top of the Convert to list; click it to convert. You get an .html file named after your PDF that opens in Chrome, Safari or Edge, or in any code editor.
A web page is easier to read on a phone than a fixed PDF page, and it is simpler to link to a section of it. Converting is a starting point for turning a brochure, a policy or a newsletter into content you can publish on a site.
It also helps when you want to reuse text and headings in a content management system or an email template, rather than copying from a PDF viewer line by line.
Text-based PDFs work best. If the file is a scan, it is flagged when you add it and PDF OCR is offered first, since a picture of a page has no text to turn into HTML.
Expect to tidy the HTML before publishing: check the headings, links and any tables. If you only need the words, Text (.txt) or Markdown (.md) under More formats in the same list may be closer to what you want.
