Scan to PDF turns photos of paper documents into one PDF, page by page, so a signed form, a set of receipts or a handwritten letter can be sent as a single file instead of a string of phone pictures. Take the photos with your phone camera, add them here, and download the PDF.

How to use Scan to PDF

Photograph each page flat, in good light, filling the frame. Then add the photos by dropping them on the page or picking them from your phone's gallery, your device, Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive (up to 260 MB each). Add them in page order. With more than one photo, choose One PDF to get a single document with every page in the order you added them, or PDF each for a separate file per photo. Download the result, or send it on WhatsApp straight from the result screen.

When Scan to PDF saves a trip

A tenant signs a lease renewal at the kitchen table and needs to return it today. A freelancer has twelve paper receipts to send to an accountant at month end. A parent has to upload a signed consent form to a school portal that only takes PDF. An employee submits an expense claim with photos of taxi receipts. In each case the phone camera replaces the scanner, and one PDF replaces a dozen separate attachments.

Making the Scan to PDF result easier to read

Shoot from directly above so pages don't come out as trapezoids, and keep your hand's shadow off the paper. If a page ends up sideways, fix it in Rotate PDF; if it is slightly crooked, Deskew PDF straightens it. To make the text searchable and copyable, run the finished PDF through OCR PDF. And if the file is too big for an email or a portal, Compress PDF will shrink it, since scans usually compress well.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a scanner for Scan to PDF?
No. Photos from any phone camera work. Keep the page flat and well lit and the PDF will be easy to read.
Can I put several photos into one PDF with Scan to PDF?
Yes. Add all the photos and choose One PDF. Each photo becomes a page, in the order you added them.
Is the text in my scanned PDF searchable?
Not yet, because the pages are pictures of text. Run the PDF through OCR PDF to add a text layer you can search and copy.
Can I use iPhone HEIC photos?
Yes. HEIC photos are accepted alongside JPG and PNG, so there is no need to change your camera settings first.
How do I fix a page that came out sideways?
Open the PDF in Rotate PDF with Continue with this file, turn that page, and save. The rest of the document stays as it was.
Why is my scanned PDF so large?
Phone photos are big, often several MB each. Compress PDF usually shrinks scanned documents a lot, which helps with portal limits like 2 MB or 5 MB.
